As an aspiring makeup artist, I felt obligated to follow the fads, styles and techniques of the beauty community. After taking a league of absence to join the US military, I decided to get back into it while...but something was missing. I felt restricted by what was acceptable. Makeup was no longer an art but a fad that everyone thought they had to learn to be accepted. The art of it disappeared for me. The beauty community became ugly to me and I no longer wanted to be apart of it.
I grew up drawing as often as I could. My mother was surprised by the art awards I would bring home. Now that I was drawn back into the art world, I feel as though I finally found the missing piece. After dealing with depression, the only thing that brought me joy was drawing again.
I took up acrylic paints as they were more affordable to start with. As I hone in on my skills daily, I find that I impress myself every time. Not only is my art a de-stressing technique, but It ultimately brings me joy that nothing else can. I love my job in the military, but now I have something to satisfy my personal ambitions.
I may not be the best, or have the best ideas but I explore new ideas every single day. So come on this journey with me to true beauty!

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition."
